Truede Beta Agreement

Last updated: 2026-05-20 · Version 1.0

Welcome to Truede's closed beta. This document explains what to expect from the beta environment, what we ask of you, and what changes when the beta transitions to real transactions (Phase 1) and then to public launch (Phase 2).

This is not a replacement for the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, or Truede Protection Policy. Those still apply where they have been introduced. This agreement only covers what is specific to the beta.

1. What the beta is

Truede is a C2C marketplace for Belgium where every user is verified through SmartID. We're building the platform step by step, and the beta is the phase where we test the working product with a small, hand-picked audience before opening it up to everyone.

The beta runs in three phases:

  • Phase 0a and 0b: test phase, no real money. You'll create listings, place bids, chat with other beta testers, and simulate buy/sell transactions. No real money is processed. SmartID verification is off (0a) or optional (0b). Shipping is simulated: no real shipping labels are generated, so real shipments are not possible.
  • Phase 1: real transactions. Real money flows through OPP escrow. SmartID verification becomes mandatory for selling, bidding, buying and chatting. Shipping happens through actual carriers (Mondial Relay, bpost). At this moment we'll ask for your consent again to an updated version of this agreement plus the additional policies (Seller Terms, DAC7 Notice, Escrow Conditions, Truede Protection Policy). This happens in a dialog on your next visit. You are never locked out while you decide: you can dismiss the dialog and keep using the platform. If you do not respond, the updated terms apply automatically after the 30-day notice period stated in the dialog. If you do not wish to agree, close your account before that date.
  • Phase 2: public launch. The beta environment shuts down. Your account migrates onto the public site. This beta agreement no longer applies; the regular Terms of Service take over.

2. What we ask of you

By accepting this agreement, you agree to the following:

  • You understand this is a test environment. There may be bugs. Screens may look different from the final version. Features may be temporarily unavailable.
  • You use a real email address where we can reach you: for invitations, for the Phase 1 transition, and for the closing communication when the beta ends.
  • You share feedback. Not mandatory, but this is the whole point of the beta. Tell us what's confusing, what's slow, what's missing, through the feedback button in the app or by email.
  • You don't share access. Your beta invitation is personal and non-transferable. Don't give your login to anyone else. A friend who wants to test along can either wait for a Phase 1 invitation from the waitlist, or, starting in Phase 1, use your invitation code.
  • You don't share internal info. What you see during the beta about how the platform works stays in the beta. No screenshots on social media without our permission, no publishing bug details before we've fixed them.

3. What we promise

  • No selling your data. Not to advertisers, not to third parties, not for profiling. The full list of sub-processors lives in the Privacy Policy on the landing site, and remains in effect during the beta.
  • No hidden costs in Phase 0. No subscriptions, no escrow fees, no shipping fees; nothing is invoiced in Phase 0a or 0b.
  • Honest communication about the transition. On your next visit after the switch to Phase 1, you'll get a dialog explaining what changes and which terms you need to accept, with a link to each document. You can dismiss it and decide later; what happens then is described in §1.
  • Beta perks that carry over to public launch. If you actively participate in the beta (at least one listing, bid, or chat message in Phase 0; or one completed transaction of at least €10 in Phase 1), you'll receive three free months of Truede Plus after the transition to Phase 1. Additionally, every beta participant receives a permanent beta badge on their profile and a personal invitation code that brings any number of friends straight into the beta. The full terms live in the beta programme document, linkable from the app.
  • Data safety in beta. We reserve the right to reset the beta database before the transition to Phase 1 if we have technical reasons to do so (e.g. a schema change that can't be applied retroactively). That means your listings, bids and chats from Phase 0 may not necessarily carry over. Your account, your beta badge, your beta cohort and your invitation codes are preserved regardless. We give at least 48 hours of advance notice before a reset.

4. What is not signed away

Nothing in this agreement limits your consumer rights under European or Belgian law. Concretely:

  • You retain the right to access, correct, or delete your data (GDPR rights).
  • You retain the right to close your account at any time.
  • We remain liable for damages caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct on our part, regardless of what is said below about “test environment”.
  • Any liability limitations that will appear in the final Terms of Service do not apply retroactively to damage that might have occurred during the beta.

5. When this agreement ends

This agreement ends when the beta environment shuts down (Phase 2, public launch). From that point all users, including you, fall under the regular Terms of Service. We'll email you when that moment is approaching.

You can also terminate this agreement earlier by closing your beta account through settings, or by sending an email to hello@truede.be. On termination your personal data is removed according to the retention periods in the Privacy Policy; your beta perks lapse.
