Truede is a Belgian marketplace for second-hand between private individuals, built around one idea: whoever sells here is known.
What is Truede?
Furniture, electronics, bikes, baby gear: you browse and bid as you’re used to. The difference is behind the listings: for every seller you see whether their identity is confirmed. Truede then knows the name behind the account; you don’t see it.
Setting up a fake profile, taking the money and vanishing: that plays out differently when Truede knows who is behind the account. One person has one account, and whoever has to leave Truede doesn’t come back with a new email address.
What do we promise?
No mission statement, no small print. Eight things Truede stands for and eight ways we differ from the rest.

Identity confirmed, not shown.
For every seller you see whether their identity is confirmed, with the eID’s chip or a scan of it, or with Smart-ID. Truede then knows the name behind the account; other users don’t see that name, only the label.

We don’t show sensitive data on your profile.
We keep your name and date of birth, but they are never on your profile. We don’t keep your national register number, only an irreversible code. If you sell above the legal DAC7 threshold, we ask for it separately and keep it locked away for the report to the tax authorities. Others see your username, your name in chat if you fill it in, and your municipality; your address only when a delivery or pickup needs it.

One account per person.
One identity gives you exactly one Truede account. Anyone removed from Truede for misconduct doesn’t come back with a new email address: the identity is blocked, not the mailbox.

Truede protection on shipping.
When something is shipped, you pay through Truede and the money stays with our payment partner until you confirm receipt and the protection window has passed. When you pick something up, you pay on the spot and Truede charges nothing.

No traders.
Truede is for private individuals. No companies, no dropshippers, no shops dressed up as neighbours. We may later add a separate space for reuse centres and sustainable initiatives.

Your own things, your own photos.
You show what you sell with your own photos: no stock photos, no catalogue scans.

No tracking cookies.
No Google Analytics, no Meta pixels, no ad networks. We do not follow you across the web and we do not share behaviour with third parties. What you do on Truede stays on Truede.

No targeted advertising.
Truede never shows ads based on who you are or what you did. If we ever show ads, they are contextual: based on the category you are browsing, never on your data.
How does it work?
You only confirm your identity when you do something that affects someone else: posting a listing, bidding or chatting. You do it in the Truede app, with your eID’s chip or a scan of it, or with Smart-ID. We keep your name and date of birth. We only keep your national register number as an irreversible code, unless you sell above the legal DAC7 threshold: then we ask for it separately for the report to the tax authorities.

Confirm your identity once.
Posting a listing, making a bid or sending a message? Then you confirm once who you are, with your eID or with Smart-ID.
Meet up or ship, you choose.
Meet hand to hand and pay on the spot. If it can be shipped, you pay through Truede and the money stays with our payment partner until you confirm receipt and the protection window has passed.

Who are we?
We are a young Flemish start-up. Truede was built by people who had had enough of anonymous platforms themselves and who believe buying and selling second-hand should feel trusted, not like a gamble.
